Cookie Crew

About Cookie Crew

Cookie Crew were a British rap duo featuring MC Remedee (Debbie Pryce, a former chef for the Ministry of Defense) and Susie Q. (Susie Banfield, sister of the Pasadenas' Andrew Banfield). They put the act together in 1983, originally as a 13-piece collective entitled Warm Milk & the Cookie Crew, after which they were picked up by Rhythm King Records. They recorded "Rok Da House" and it became a U.K. hit in December 1987. Signing to London Records, in 1989 they enjoyed hits with "Born This Way," "Got to Keep On," and "Come and Get Some." London Records and Cookie Crew were soon at odds over the group's creative direction, and a compromise was reached in 1992 when two singles, the pop-leaning "Like Brother Like Sister" and the hard-edged "Crew’s Gone Mad," were released side by side to decide their future career. The group soon ran its course.
