About Christian Svarfvar

Violinist Christian Svarfvar is among Scandinavia's most highly regarded musicians. He often programs contemporary music and has collaborated with composers in a wide variety of styles. Svarfvar was interested in contemporary music from early in his career, and in 2007, he joined the contemporary music ensemble NNEO, performing between then and 2013 in more than 100 premieres. He has continued to stress contemporary music, working with such composers as Kaija Saariaho, Chaya Czernowin, and Howard Shore. In 2014, Svarfvar made his solo recording debut with an album of Grieg violin sonatas with pianist Helge Kjekshus. In 2018, Svarfvar issued the Bruch and Stenhammar violin concertos with the London Philharmonic. He returned in 2021 with the album Johan Ullén: Infinite Bach.
