Upon their formation in early 1999, Travis Peterson (guitar/vocals ) and Karen Tercho (drums) began playing under the moniker of Cherubino throughout their native of New York City. Capturing a sound that captured a melodic but lo-fi pop sound that looked up to Weezer and Pavement, The Self-Starter Foundation eventually released the band's debut EP entitled Bird in 2001. ~ Mike DaRonco
