About César Dávila-Irizarry

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Christmas. 1997. At the biggest shopping mall in Puerto Rico. Every store had different Spanish songs playing. The mall’s main P.A. played music in English. And, at every 100 ft, there was a live music act. Add crowd noise. It was chaos. It was life. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Björk, Vespertine Nine Inch Nails, The Downward Spiral Explicit Version Oval, 94 Diskont These three artists manipulate sound like clay in the hands of master sculptors. There is something animalistic in their sometimes abstract nature. Sometimes cathartic, sometimes intimate, or even sweet... but always magical. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Collage. Forest. Esencia.” I love how the sounds in "Collage. Forest. Esencia." keep intensifying while the voice explores different levels of frailty. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? To have one of my first electronic music songs, which I wrote in 1999 in Puerto Rico, become the theme song and branding of American Horror Story, such a huge hit TV show… f’n epic. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I'm working on getting more theme songs out there. It’s an awesome art form that is open to experimentation. I also want to write more bilingual songs.
