Carpetgarden is the melodic and musically chaotic solo project of Los Angeles musician David Sweet. Since debuting in the late 2010s, Sweet has seesawed between various strains of lo-fi bedroom pop, from noisy indie rock to acoustic odes and ballads celebrating marginalized misfits. Through a barrage of self-released EPs and singles, they have achieved viral success with songs like "Can Ghosts Be Gay?" and "Heartbreak Hotel." Carpetgarden's 2022 EP WTF is even going on? explored themes of identity, gender dysphoria, and mental illness. It was followed in 2023 by the hooky single "Cheerleader."
