About Butch Hancock
Butch Hancock is best known as a member of the pioneering Texas alt-country band the Flatlanders, who made one album in the early '70s, then reunited decades later. The most prolific (and arguably most gifted) of the three Flatlanders (including Joe Ely and Jimmie Dale Gilmore), Hancock began releasing solo albums in 1978, turning out one record after another full of poetic, Dylanesque tunes. He also contributed mightily to Ely and Gilmore's solo releases, and the trio finally began performing and recording again under the Flatlanders banner in the early 2000s. ~ Jim Allen
