Brisa Roché

California native Brisa Roché moved to Paris at age 18, where she formed a roots trio, but she returned to the States soon after, where she played with an emo group. Frustrated with the band, she left and temporarily gave up music altogether. Then she discovered jazz, taught herself some standards, and started gigging around town. She later moved back to Paris to pursue a career as a jazz vocalist. The industry took notice of Roché (she gained quite a following at her Paris gigs), and she was signed to Blue Note in 2005. Her debut, the retro-loungey indie pop album The Chase, was released the following year. ~ TiVo Staff
