About Bob Gaulke
In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. My father playing the bass clarinet; the donald duck close 'n play record player. My first clock radio. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? CharlElie Couture, Le pêcheur John Cale, Artificial Intelligence Sérgio Sampaio, Tem Que Acontecer Sergio Sampaio blew my mind when I lived in Brazil in the early 00's; a poet with a punk sensibility drenched in the traditions of samba. I've lived with "Le Pêcheur" for several decades and am still in awe of its scope and detail. "AI" is a gem. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Heat Sink” I'm very proud of this working as a narrative of modern America's daily working reality and the way it all came together melodically and arrangement-wise. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Winning a NYFA grant for my songwriting. NYC does a decent job with the arts. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I've got 40 or so near- completed albums. I think I'm going to put out some of the rock theatre pieces as albums next year.
