One of the songs in there was called 'the sandwich song' and I vividly remember my sister and me demanding he performs it at least once a week. Elliott Smith, Figure 8 Fleet Foxes, Helplessness Blues Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Skeleton Tree These are albums I return to frequently and have done for a while — so newer faves were at a disadvantage. Tell us why you chose this song. “X” X has such patience with its grandiose elements, the strings, horns, the choir — these tracks add tension beneath the surface of a tight beat, but the song is still so restrained. Her great lyricism and performance are the backbone supporting it all.
