About Billy Ray Cyrus
Billy Ray Cyrus is the father of pop superstar Miley Cyrus, Metro Station leader Trace Cyrus, and singer Noah Cyrus. ∙ Cyrus, who aspired to play professional baseball, not only received an athletic scholarship to Kentucky’s Georgetown College, but he also was scouted by the Los Angeles Dodgers. ∙ After seeing Neil Diamond in concert, he decided to pursue music and bought a guitar the very next day. ∙ His 1992 debut single, “Achy Breaky Heart,” which spent five weeks atop the Country charts and was also a crossover Pop hit, is credited with boosting the popularity of line dancing. ∙ Cyrus’ 1992 debut album, Some Gave All, has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. ∙ He costarred with daughter Miley in the TV series Hannah Montana, playing Robby Ray Stewart, the father of her pop-star character. ∙ Cyrus won his first two Grammy Awards (Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video), thanks to his appearance on Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.”
