About Bill Kaffenberger

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. The advent of the Beatles went over my head. However, when The Byrds appeared on Hullabaloo on TV in May of 1965, their electric 12-string Rickenbacker jingle-jangle sound changed my musical direction forever. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bob Dylan, Blonde On Blonde Leonard Cohen, Songs of Leonard Cohen The Byrds, Mr. Tambourine Man Reissue Edition with Bonus Tracks When I was a young and new musician, these three albums, both lyrically and musically, influenced my musical direction more than any others. Their word pictures and sounds were like nothing that I had ever heard before. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Watching the World Go Mad” WATCHING THE WORLD GO MAD, a collaboration with Gerry Laverty, was written as a statement about recent times in the United States, politically and spiritually. It is a sweet and simple tune that speaks to the human struggles we all face daily. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My old band, The Totally Unrehearsed Band, was performing at a local Richmond, VA venue. We often sang the old gospel hymn AMAZING GRACE a capella as the closing number of our final set. Once, the entire crowd, without us asking, sang it with us! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? To perform as an opening act or on the same bill as one of my musical heroes, such as Roger McGuinn, Chris Hillman, John York or Marty Stuart and the Superlatives.
