Audionom

About Audionom

The Swedish experimental rock collective Audionom were formed in Stockholm by former members of Apparat (a local group, not the German band) and PVC, their members including but by no means limited to Johan Hinders (vocals, synthesizer), Peter Backebo (guitar, backing vocals), and Paul Sigerhall (drums). (Martin Malm, who provided films to accompany Audionom's live performances, was also counted as an official member of the band.) Audionom recorded several singles for release in Sweden between 1999 and 2002, and these recordings were gathered together onto an album called Retrospektiv. By the time that Keith Abrahamsson, an A&R representative for American indie label Kemado Records, visited Sweden and happened upon the album, Audionom had broken up, although their members continued to work together on different projects, and a reunion was not ruled out. Kemado released Retrospektiv in the U.S. on February 20, 2007. ~ William Ruhlmann
