About Arjay Sharp

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. In high school, I sang and played keys in a rock band. Once at a local Battle of the Bands, we played Subdivisions by Rush, and when finished a judge shouted "Good!" We had an amazing drummer, who had studied Peart's part and nailed it. Great times! What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Billy Joel, The Essential Billy Joel (Limited Edition) Depeche Mode, The Best of Depeche Mode, Vol. 1 Toto, The Essential Toto These are the top 3 artists who informed and inspired me the most growing up, though I've embraced new influences since. I love Billy's heartfelt and melodic songwriting, Toto's genre diversity (rock/pop/soul), and DM's appeal to my darker side. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Searchlight” I think this is one of my better songs in terms of lyrics, melody, and arrangement, and the emotional agreement of all three. I'm also partial to the sad sound of a wistful mandolin. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? My most memorable moment was recording Delusions at Cove City Sound on Long Island in 2015, owned/operated by Billy Joel's sax man from the '76-'86 era, Richie Cannata. My brother and best friend were there to hear him track two solos! Amazing time. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? As an upcoming artist who hasn't performed live much lately, I'd love to form a band with some amazing musicians and play local venues... then on to legendary venues like the Fillmore... then open for a big name at Red Rocks! Why not?
