At age three, Anthony Brown heard “Pachelbel’s Canon,” and then wowed his parents by immediately playing the tune by ear on a piano.
∙ Before his career in gospel music, Brown performed John Legend covers and considered going in a similar musical direction.
∙ He wrote the song “It Ain’t Over,” which became a No. 1 gospel hit for Maurette Brown Clark in 2009.
∙ In 2012, Anthony Brown & group therAPy released their self-titled debut, which was nominated for a Dove Award for Contemporary Gospel/Urban Album of the Year.
∙ In 2017, Anthony Brown and group therAPy won a record-setting 10 Stellar Awards, the most ever by an artist in one ceremony.
∙ Brown, whose father is a pastor, has also served as assistant minister of music at Maryland’s First Baptist Church of Glenarden.
