About Anna Diorio

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I was 11 years old and loved to sing. My dad (a jazz and classical pianist) sat me down and taught me to sing Autumn Leaves note by note. From that moment on, my passion for learning and singing jazz standards has been one of my deepest musical joys. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Anderson .Paak, Malibu Betty Scott, Lennie Tristano, Betty Scott Sings with Lennie Tristano Sa-Roc, The Sharecropper's Daughter Betty Scott is my grandmother and a huge reason why I sing is to carry her legacy. Malibu bends genres and shows me there are no limits to creativity. Sa-Roc taught me the true impact of a conscious female rapper fully embodied in her power. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Rebound” Rebound is very dear to me because it was the first time I ventured into neosoul/r&b, one of my favorite genres. I also got to blend singing & rapping in a really fun way and create something with more mainstream appeal without sacrificing lyricism. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? The first time someone sang along to my lyrics at a show. It was a conscious music event in LA by Community Healing, and there was a woman in the front rapping the lyrics to "Human Nature" - one of my wordiest tracks. This definitely changed my life.
