About Andy Benz

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. Hearing the otherworldly sounds of John Coltrane coming from my parents living room will never escape me. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Astor Piazzolla, Rough Dancer and the Cyclical Night Augustus Pablo, King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown David Oistrakh, Franz Konwitschny, Staatskapelle Dresden, Brahms: Concerto pour violon, Op. 77 (Mono Version) When Oistrakh plays Brahms I always cry. When Piazolla and his quintet perform the passion is unstoppable and the innovative sounds of King Tubby never stop to amaze me Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Half Jazz” This song is actually a live performance at Christiania Jazzclub. It is live-looping at its most delicate and fragile. I met my life-partner at this concert and when I listen to it myself I can see the room full of my dear friends. Some of them gone. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? Writing and performing music for 100 double basses for Bass 2012. The show was called The Battle of Copenhagen and took place outside in Copenhagen Harbor with 5.000 spectators attending. To conduct I used specially designed light signals. Wild! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? To make a third full length album. Working title The Vibration
