About Abel James

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. As an 8 year old, I dressed up in a bow tie and played clarinet and saxophone in local diners and busking on the street for tips. I still play surprise concerts, especially around the holidays, often dressed up as an elf carrying a guitar. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Blaze Foley, Sittin' by the Road John Scofield, Country for Old Men Stanton Moore, All Kooked Out! Funky, rooted in soul, and sometimes bizarre, listening to John Scofield, Stanton Moore and Blaze Foley always makes my freaking day. Each of these albums is completely underrated, do yourself a favor take a listen. Great tunes for road trips, too. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Thank God for the Blues” Written with my dear friend Denny Hemingson, longtime bandleader for Tim McGraw, Thank God for the Blues shows us that no matter how tough life gets, music can make it better. Few things make us feel better than jamming and wailing to the blues! What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? When Denny of the Tim McGraw Band introduced me to the rest of the guys on tour and said they listened to my podcast, I was floored. Also, shredding the National Anthem Jimi-Hendrix style at the Slam Dunk contest in NH at the age of 16 was a blast. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? I may not be a spring chicken anymore, but believe me when I say I'm just getting warmed up!
