About Aarón Zapico

Spanish harpsichordist and conductor Aarón Zapico is a specialist in early music, and he is a co-founder of the period instruments ensemble Forma Antiqva. He earned his degree in piano at the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Eduardo Martínez Torner" in Oviedo, and then attended the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where he worked with Jacques Ogg. He created Forma Antiqva in 1999 with his brothers, Pablo Zapico and Daniel Zapico, and they have toured internationally. As a conductor, Zapico has led the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, the Asturias Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Malaga, the Extremadura Symphony Orchestra, the Baroque Orchestra of Roquetas de Mar, the Bilbao Choral Society, the Princess of Asturias Foundation Choir, Acadèmia 1750, and the Youth Orchestra of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, among other ensembles. He has performed with various groups as harpsichordist and organist, playing continuo with the Euskal Barrokensemble, the Accademia del Piacere, El Concierto Español, La Real Cámara, Camerata Iberia, and the Orpheon Consort Wien. Zapico teaches at the Conservatorio Superior de Oviedo and the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Manuel Massotti Littel" in Murcia. He has recorded for Winter & Winter and Glossa. ~ Blair Sanderson
