Singing with R&B group Nu Flavor from 1997 to 2000, Rigo Luna left once the group's success seemed to have run its course. He spent the next few years writing and performing for small audiences in search of a fresh, appealing mixture of Latin and R&B. As audience sizes increased and buzz followed, Luna was snatched up by Universal Music's Machete Music, a label focused on urban Latino audiences. His self-titled debut hit the market in 2006.
