About Linda Andrews

Linda Andrews is a Danish pop singer who rose to fame in 2009 as the first-place winner of the television talent show X Factor. Born Linda Andreasen on October 19, 1973, in Tórshavn, the capital of the Faroe Islands, she eventually settled in Copenhagen, Denmark. Prior to her rise to fame on X Factor, Andrews made her solo album debut in 2008 with Revelation, a gospel album, and prior to that, she released stray recordings such as "Hot Santa," a Christmas-themed novelty single from 2006. Her first-place finish on X Factor in 2009 changed everything, of course, as she was offered a major-label recording contract with Sony Music in the immediate aftermath of her win and refashioned as a commercially viable pop singer. Andrews made her major-label debut with "Det Bedste Til Sidst," a chart-topping smash hit expressly written for her by Søren Rasted of the Danish pop band Aqua (of "Barbie Girl" fame). The song was released in April 2009, just after Andrews had debuted the song on the season finale of X Factor (along with "So What" by P!nk). A couple months after the commercial release of "Det Bedste Til Sidst," Andrews made her full-length album debut with Into the Light (2009), a primarily English-language effort that peaked at number two on the Danish albums chart and spawned the follow-up singles "Into the Light" and "Mirror Mirror." ~ Jason Birchmeier
