About Black Moth Super Rainbow
Pittsburg's experimental quintet Black Moth Super Rainbow incorporates elements of electronica, pop, and folk in a pulsing, psychedelic swirl that is disorienting and accessible all at once. The group’s first three albums, FALLING THROUGH A FIELD (2003), START A PEOPLE (2004), and LOST PICKING FLOWERS IN THE WOODS (2005) introduced the band’s unique sound, which features vintage equipment such as vocoders and analog synths. A collaboration with the Octopus Project resulted in THE HOUSE OF APPLES AND EYEBALLS (2006), while 2007’s DANDELION GUM proved one of BMSR’s most cohesive and exciting releases. Appearances with the Flaming Lips and at South By Southwest boosted the band’s indie credibility. That the group members use monikers such as Iffernaut and Father Hummingbird further contributes to their mystery.
