"Zippo Songs" is a cycle composed by Phil Kline from lyrics found engraved on the Zippo lighters of Vietnam soldiers. This will remind some listeners of Brian Eno's music, but with plenty of unique twists. This was the NYT's and Gramophone's Record/CD of the Year for 2004. The music is very evocative and Theo Bleckmann's vocals are haunting. Excellently produced. If you listen to the samples here and like what you hear, you'll love the album.
