Over the last two decades, JFJO has played an ever-shifting combination of jazz, post-rock, electronic music, and even the jam-band style. Led by keyboardist Brian Haas, the Tulsa-based band return with their 26th album and first proper effort with the current lineup of Haas (here mostly on a variety of electric keys), Chris Combs on guitar and lap steel, and drummer Josh Raymer. This densely woven effort (exceptions are the short, airy vignettes) puts a premium on composed eclecticism, where the surging rock of “Appropriation Song” gives way to the diced and spliced “Hey Hey NSA.”
