Greatest Show On Dirt - EP

When Meghan Patrick made her debut on the Grand Ole Opry in the spring of 2023, the award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter also made an announcement: plans to release a new EP. That arrives in the form of a six-track collection following Patrick’s 2021 LP Heart on My Glass. Co-produced by Joey Hyde and Aaron Eshuis, Greatest Show on Dirt is a concise sampler of Patrick’s talents, like the self-reflection on display on “She’s No Good for Me,” the melodic hooks of “Ours,” and the winking wordplay of “Red Roses & Red Flags.” “Truck Breaks Down” is reminiscent of a ’90s country ballad, with shades of contemporary work from artists like Ashley McBryde and Carly Pearce. “Who Would I Be” cleverly flips the script of personal songwriting, with Patrick asking, “If you were writing a song about me, how would you write me in a melody?” And the cleverly named title track is a bittersweet takedown of a scheming lover, with imagery of sweet summer nights and rides in the Chevy underscoring the narrator’s heartbreak.
