Friends since childhood, Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance recorded their debut album deep in the Wasatch Mountains. The fact that Utah was created in desolate seclusion suits the duo's timeworn blend of folk, swaggering roots rock, and high-lonesome country. Bone-chilling harmonies and heartfelt lyrics are woven throughout—with particular highlights on “California (Cast Iron Soul)” and “Heavy Heart.” Recordings of nature sounds heighten the album’s evocative sense of place.
