Every five years or so, R&B mainstay Eric Bellinger shares a new edition of his Rebirth series. In 2014, the first arrived, followed by its sequel in 2019. In 2024, he dropped the third in what is now a trilogy, though this one comes with a special twist: The album is subtitled The Party & The Bedroom, and the vibes are just as sultry as the title suggests. The set features a who’s who of R&B and rap stars, including Mozzy, Ne-Yo, and Queen Naija. But Bellinger is at his best when he taps into deeply felt vocal performances that can effortlessly set any scene. Over a skittering drum groove and the slightest hint of piano melody on “Body on Mine”—all the more room for Bellinger to showcase his powerful voice—the singer begs his lady to pay him a visit. “Don’t give it to nobody else but me/Ain’t no other option, you’re all I need,” he sings, before adding “Everything that I’ve been through/Got me ready for you/They don’t know one thing about love.”
