The Montreal indie-pop combo branches out with a touch of electronic experimentation on their second LP. Their tight-knit harmonies and big, melodic choruses haven’t gone anywhere—in fact, with the added production flourishes, they’re maybe even a little stronger on System. Cuts like the title track and “Older Than Old” are stripped-back gems with just a hint of synth and drum-machine backing, allowing these three voices to shine even brighter. But their more traditional pop tunes, like the playful “Roller Coaster” and the bouncy “Tinder,” rock just like they always do.
