Self Induced Illness

Self Induced Illness

Repping for Queens and The Outdoorsmen crew, Meyhem Lauren debuted in 2004 on J-Love's King of What I Do Part 6 mixtape. Since then, he's been going off pretty much nonstop, working with a wide variety of New York hip-hop legends (Cormega, Ghostface, Kool G Rap, M.O.P.), plus the next generation of no-B.S. street lyricists like Action Bronson and Roc Marciano. A sprawling collection of his work to date, Self Induced Illness is an exceptional street album and an ideal way to discover Meyhem's super-rugged style. With hard-knocking, loop-heavy production from J-Love, PF Kuttin, Shakim Allah, Anger Bangers, and Thorotracks, he gives us a whopping 41 joints focused mostly on doing dirt, clowning chumps, pulling shorties, and showing love for the streets. He's one of the most promising young NYC cats working today; look for Meyhem to be huge very soon. Most every song here is nice, but "Another Hustle," "Close Call," "Respect My Honesty," and "Analyze the Elements" are highlights.
