The brainchild of Egyptian musician, producer and DJ Amr Khaled, Fulltone has become an electronic music force. While he performs alongside other musicians in concert, his studio productions are him alone, burrowing into an expansive deep house vibe. Samai follows two 2017 EPs noted for inventive use of instruments like bouzouki and bağlama. On “Globe”, Khaled layers a sinuous groove with flickering rhythms, cricketing birds and airy, echoing vocals. Scraped wood and thumping bass guides the title track, while acoustic strings drives the reflective “Lost in the City”.
