Featuring members from post-grunge acts Three Days Grace and Staind, Saint Asonia qualifies as alt-rock royalty, and their radio-ready debut proves them worthy of the throne. With its bruising guitar chug and sky-punching chorus, “Better Place” opens the album on a pummeling note. And the record only gets heavier and more emotionally powerful from there: “King of Nothing” brings their monolithic stomp to new levels of heaviness, while the delicate, acoustic-based “Trying To Catch Up With the World” reveals a masterful softer side.
