After a string of eccentric hits in their native Colombia, indie-pop duo Pedrina and Rio broke up in early 2018. But judging by how many times Rio appears on Pedrina’s debut solo album, they apparently just can’t resist collaborating. Prisma is full of the same tropical folk melodies (“Háblame”) and sizzling electro beats (“Inevitable”) that lit up the pair’s earlier work together. Despite the production input from Rio, it’s clearly Pedrina’s show, which means her love for the breezy swing of Latin jazz comes to the fore (“Importante”).
