Pretty Music for Pretty People

Pretty Music for Pretty People

The Dead Milkmen broke through the "funny punk" genre with several well-placed “hits” (“Bitchin’ Camaro,” “Punk Rock Girl”) before breaking up in 1995. But the Philadelphia combo have reunited several times in the past decade. 2014’s Pretty Music for Pretty People, their 10th studio album, sticks to their formula of many songs quickly turned over, though the speedy (or “hardcore”) tempos have mostly slowed for accessibility’s sake (and because who plays that fast anymore?). “Now I Wanna Hold You Dog” keeps the aggression up. But “Big Words Make the Baby Jesus Cry” and “Hipster Beard” make their commentaries at decipherable speeds.
