In addition to being another fine example of James Booker's fluidly complex piano style, this live solo recording from his late-'70s prime showcases Booker's underappreciated songwriting along with his audacious and charismatic vocals. "Slowly but Surely" and "United Our Thing Will Stand" are gritty and heartfelt social-justice anthems, while sassy R&B complaints "One Helluva Nerve" and "Classified" fit perfectly alongside a jubilantly rocking crossover-hits medley of "Sixty Minute Man" and "You Talk Too Much."
