Paradise

Paradise

A-Reece’s debut album finds the Pitori lyricist transitioning from bubbling under to superstardom. “It’s about the pressures, newfound vices, and the responsibilities of being in that position,” A-Reece tells Apple Music. Paradise has monster hits—“Zimbali,” “Mgani,” “Couldn’t,” and “Paradise”—but it’s in the album cuts where he goes deepest. He notes the change in treatment from those around him (“Kena”), takes an introspective look inside (“What U in 4”), and replays steamy sexual encounters (“Make Up Your Mind,” “Hamba Nami,” “Uber”). On “Family,” one of Reece’s finest moments, he shares his family’s intimate story alongside his rapper brother P-Jay and singer Amanda Black. “The song is so personal, everyone in the studio was in deep silence throughout the entire time Jay recorded his verse,” he says.
