“We took our roots and put a twist on it,” Fuerza Regida frontman Jesus Ortiz tells Apple Music about their latest album Otro Pedo, Otro Mundo. “The twist being a modern-day sound, the music we listen to, being English and Spanish, and our everyday experiences.” The Southern California group’s distinctly contemporary trap-corridos style comes through boldly on this new project, a fan-friendly return to form after the genre tinkering of Adicto earlier in 2020. “The last album we released was something different, outside of our lane,” he says. “We want to just give the fans more music to listen to.” Songs like “Mares y Yates” and the explicitly personal narrative “No Cantaron Mañanitas” solidify the band’s status as one of the most essential acts in the regional Mexican scene today.
