One World

One World

Karl Jenkins, not for the first time in his career, sounds a warning against the lethal toxins of greed, hatred, and ignorance. One World rises from the composer’s clear vision “of a peaceful and egalitarian planet that treats nature and ecological issues with respect and where human rights are universal.” He channels his hope for a better, fairer global society into a succession of interconnected movements for various permutations of soprano, mezzo-soprano and baritone soloists, large chorus, and orchestra, each hallmarked by expansive, folk-like melodies, lush harmonies, and incisive rhythms. The work, written for and performed here by the World Choir For Peace, World Orchestra for Peace, and the virtual Stay At Home Choir, draws its compassionate message from ancient wisdom and modern texts, unified by the recognition of our shared humanity.
