Nostradamus

Nostradamus

On Nostradamus, Ivorian rapper and producer Defty lends his slick rhyming, punchy flow and unfaltering ear for beats to a gripping offering. While the preamble “Introdamus” sees the artist born N’Goran Serge Koko weave his way through delicate piano keys, the rest of the ten-tracker boasts absorbing trap and drill production punctuated by gritty basslines, acoustic overtones and rattling percussion. The uptempo “Saaal” shares its strummed sonics with the rap sung “Mon œil” and chant-heavy “Madou” before making way for the melodic rhythms of the Ayanne-assisted “Ex”. The quickfire flows over the bassy terrain of “Important” reveal Defty at his declaratory best, and the coupé-décalé-infusing, Wahissey Gvng-featuring “Amen” ends the project on a high octane, polyrhythmic note.
