You won’t be surprised to find out that the debut album from Trust Fund, the stage name of Bristol, England–based indie musician Ellis Jones, was recorded in his bedroom. Not only is it a lo-fi affair, but Jones' lyrics are the kind young lovers exchange on a twin bed late at night. Sometimes the conversation rises above a murmur—as with the abrasive guitars and pattered snare on "Cut Me Out” or the gleaming horns on “January.” But the record's best moments are its quieter ones. We particularly love the plaintive exchange between Jones and singer Roxy Brennan on “IDK."
