MY WAY:VOLUME II

MY WAY:VOLUME II

Wendy Kay's singing can move stony hearts. That much is evident on My Way, Volume II, the sequel to her debut project in 2020. The tape is a salad of emotions, a swinging pendulum going from love to jealousy, heartbreak and love again as the Nairobi-bred singer and producer embarks on a journey of catching feelings. On "Niambe" (Swahili for "Tell me"), she addresses the matter of dealing with a distracted partner, before moving on to expose the surprising capacity of the heart to search for companionship, even in the face of uncertainties and recurring frustrations, on “Fantasy". Her obvious influences of house and R&B steady the ship throughout, but collide to orgasmic perfection on "Kosea" where Kay reminisces about the volatility of emotions and of love leaving. "We slowly started hating ourselves/the passion's fading/I can't feel your vibe anymore", she sings. "Come My Way" closes it all as she declares "Baby please be mine/don't you dare decline”.
