This almost overwhelming set of tracks situates Creedence Clearwater Revival as one of America’s most powerful hit-producing machines, and with good reason: The John Fogerty-led band were masters. It’s kind of hard to believe that the full sounds of “Fortunate Son” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” were produced by the rock counterpoint of just four dudes. Between the rambler’s odyssey “Proud Mary,” the sensual “I Put a Spell on You,” and the structurally perfect “Lodi,” this album delivers 90 minutes of pure bliss.
