Even though it’s only seven short songs, Courage My Love’s third album SPECTRA packs a ton of emotion. A compilation of singles the Ontario trio released over the past year (most notably the nostalgic hit “Teenagers,” which feels plucked from a John Hughes film) as well as three brand-new songs, the project finds the Arn-Horn sisters, Mercedes and Phoenix, reflecting on a string of romantic adventures. From the retro glitter of “Slow Motion” to the bedroom-pop balladry of “Sleeptalker,” they have a way of making heavy themes—jealousy, heartache, loneliness, and adolescence–feel as fun and airy as a highway drive.
