A major Bay Area player, Livewire Records representative and Oakland native Philthy Rich continues his reign of lyrical terror, adding to his already-massive discography with this latest street album, Kill Zone the Leak, hosted by DJ Ambidestrix. Like most of his work, the album is massive both in terms of size (24 tracks) and its guest lineup, featuring collabos with other local stars like J. Stalin, San Quinn, Lil Blood, Shady Nate, Stevie Joe, and Bobby Valentino, plus plenty of lesser-known cats on the come up (Nump, Armani DePaul, Kafani, Smuggla, etc.). Plus there's one bona fide legend, Houston O.G. Scarface, who lends his signature flow to "Life." Though it plays more like a compilation than a proper solo album, there's still a lot of dope music here, especially for fans of the Bay's more thugged-out underground scene. Check out "Feelin U," "Chump Change," "Wanna Be Paid," and "Broke Niggas Make Me Sick."
