Composer James Horner went a little wild with his soundtrack for James Cameron's sci-fi/horror epic. His music is as dense and overwhelming as the film, with plenty of ominous buildups and clattering climaxes. On quieter pieces, like "Sub-Level 3," sustained chords build tension for minutes on end; on "Ripley's Rescue" all hell breaks loose with timpani, xylophones, and crashing cymbals. Some tracks didn't make the film, including a few foreboding, percussion-only mixes and an even-more-chilling version of the finale, "Hyperspace."
