The result is a captivating collection of almost entirely acoustic tunes, featuring Love's sly, soulful vocals and resonant guitar ("The Road," "Milk and Sugar"), bombastic stomp-and-clap percussion (the Bukka White cover "Fixin' to Die"), and wily arrangements of classic pop tunes (the barroom-funk rework of Paul Simon's "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" and a devastatingly gorgeous version of Lou Reed's "Pale Blue Eyes").
