Endless Years

Endless Years

The Knoxville, Tenn.–based Will Reagan & United Pursuit see themselves as more of a family than a band. They keep their music eclectic and play a plethora of genres, with a thread of Christian worship sewing it all together. Their artist bio says the band "defies today’s worship genre norms, always reaching for more.” This is evident right from the opening tune from their 2012 album Endless Years. “Give Me a Song” is a moody piano ballad trimmed with anthemic choruses and orchestral accompaniment, playing like something on par with early Coldplay recordings. “Commission” plays with the cool indie rock trimmings and rhythmic bombast, like a latter-day Manic Street Preachers song. And in “Take Back,” the triumphant melodies recall those from Keane’s 2006 album Under the Iron Sea, as Reagan’s doubled vocals soar over dramatic minor chords pounded on a piano as sleek electric guitar effects chime alongside a versatile rhythm section. Reagan and United Pursuit strip down the following “Now I’m Closer” to create a handsome folk-based gem.
