With her touring band providing its support, there’s a natural musical language being spoken and an energy that pushes “I Can Make Him Whisper I Love You” and the hyper-kinetic banjo-driven “Heart Wrenching Lovesick Memories,” the album’s first single, into an excited realm that retains the music’s tradition while also providing a modern vibrancy.
