DAT BOY DEN

DAT BOY DEN

Since breaking through on the mixtape circuit in 2014 as half of the Sauce Twinz, the Houston rapper has been known to punch above his weight: He’s masterfully dissed Drake (2015’s “Wack 2 Wack”), credibly claims to have originated “drip” as a slang term, and has dropped more than 20 tapes showcasing his unhinged charisma. Recently he’s hewed to concepts like the Sauce Ghetto Gospel series (rapping exclusively over gospel samples), but DAT BOY DEN sticks to Sauce Walka’s bread and butter: strip-club-friendly country-rap tunes, bellowed with Tasmanian Devil bluster. Just when you think you’ve heard every flex under the sun, Walka’s good for a few new ones—on “Rollin’ In,” he develops scoliosis from a four-pound Cuban link chain.
