Russian pianist and composer Dmitry Evgrafov guides us on a personal, neoclassical journey from darkness to light. Brooding electronic soundscapes punctuate his progress (“A Chance to Change”), hypnotic strings and beautifully wrought piano solos rise from the gloom like the sun onto a new day (“Znanie”). And throughout the voyage, textures, harmonies, and moods continue to open out, flower-like, until peaceful resolution (“Sattva”). If you’re moved by the soundtracks of Ólafur Arnalds (Broadchurch) or Jóhann Jóhannsson, who wrote Arrival's score, you’ll be mesmerised by Evgrafov.
