This may be John Digweed’s 31st monthly DJ mix for Apple Music, but the veteran DJ and producer is still keeping things fresh. Here, he assembles a mix fueled by recent travels around the world, featuring “some of the best breaks and deep techno I could get my hands on this month.” But he’s returned to London—and this Apple Music series—with more than just the most exciting sounds out there right now: The DJ also has some good news for dance fans everywhere. “I just got back from a trio of incredible gigs in Miami, London, and Andorra, and one thing for sure is underground music—away from all the pyrotechnics and camera phones—is alive and kicking,” he tells Apple Music. The tracks to really take note of here? “This month’s mix starts with another new release from Paul Roux,” says Digweed. “Also featured is the Speakman Remix of ‘Give U Love’ from GIVE LOVE—easily one of the biggest breaks anthems from the first part of 2024.” Elsewhere, there’s a “darker, more downtempo” moment from M.F.S: Observatory’s “Z5” (“If you like real underground techno, this is an artist you need to add to your favorites here on Apple Music,” advises Digweed), and to count us out, “the most stunning Steven Weston and Braxton release called ‘Splendor’—the beautiful, everlasting breakdown alone will you keep hanging until next month’s edition.”
