Instead, the Jacksonville rapper dedicated his latest EP to his ride-or-die girlfriend, Chloe—a five-track exploration of the heart over plaintive piano beats à la Boosie or YoungBoy Never Broke Again. Ace’s twangy, melodic bars are soul-searching and genuinely sweet; on “Mountains,” he lives out the plot of a particularly bonkers action film—climbing mountains, traversing deserts, swimming with sharks—just to prove his devotion.
